I’m here for all of your Albuquerque newborn photography, maternity photography, and family photography needs!

There’s something about late summer in New Mexico that feels almost magical. The days are warm and golden, the grasses are tall and flowing, and there’s a little bit of nostalgia in the air—the kind that takes you right back to long summer evenings spent outside with the people you love most.
That’s exactly what this family session at the Valles Caldera felt like.
As a Santa Fe family photographer, I love when a session feels less like a photoshoot and more like a family simply enjoying time together. This evening was full of movement, laughter, wildflowers, cuddles, and all those little in-between moments that make childhood so beautiful.

The weather couldn’t have been better. Sunshine filled the valley, the late-summer grasses moved softly in the breeze, and the landscape seemed to stretch endlessly around us.
Valles Caldera is such a beautiful setting for New Mexico family photography. There’s something about the wide-open landscape that gives kids room to be kids—and gives families the freedom to interact naturally without feeling like they need to stand still and pose.
And this family embraced that completely.
We spent the evening running through the tall grass, playing tag, picking flowers, and soaking up every bit of that gorgeous New Mexico summer light.

One of my favorite things about photographing families is getting to capture childhood as it really is. Not perfectly posed. Not perfectly still. Just wild, joyful, curious, and completely present.
The kids ran through the grass and played tag with their parents, laughing as they chased each other across the meadow. They stopped to pick flowers along the way, found little things to explore, and eventually slowed down for some of the sweetest snuggles with Mom and Dad.
Those are the moments I want families to remember.
Years from now, I hope these photographs bring them right back to this evening—the feeling of warm sunshine on their skin, the sound of their children laughing, and the feeling of being together in a wide-open New Mexico meadow, surrounded by beautiful mountain vistas.

There was something about this session that reminded me so much of my own childhood summers.
The long grass. The warm evening light. Running around outside until it was almost time to go home. Picking flowers just because they were pretty. Being barefoot and carefree and completely unaware that these ordinary moments would someday become the memories you treasure most.
That feeling of nostalgia is one of the reasons I love family photography in New Mexico so much. The landscape already carries so much character and history, and when you add a family simply being themselves, the photographs become more than portraits. They become a record of a season of life.

Of course, we made time for a few beautiful portraits, but the real magic happened in between.
A child tucked into their parent’s arms.
A spontaneous laugh.
Little hands holding flowers.
Parents chasing their kids through the meadow.
Everyone gathering together for a quiet snuggle after all the running around.
These are the photographs that tell a family’s story.
As a Santa Fe family photographer, my goal is always to create an experience where families can relax, connect, and have fun while I document what naturally unfolds. I want your gallery to feel like you—not like a collection of stiff poses.

If you’re looking for a meaningful location for your own Santa Fe family photography session, Valles Caldera is an incredible place to consider.
The landscape changes beautifully throughout the year, but there is something especially dreamy about late summer when the grasses are tall and golden and the evenings are warm. It’s the perfect backdrop for families who want photographs that feel adventurous, connected, and timeless.
Whether we’re running through a meadow, exploring the landscape, picking wildflowers, or simply cuddling together, the goal is always the same: to create photographs that allow you to remember not just what your family looked like, but what this season of your life felt like.
And this evening at Valles Caldera felt like summer memories in the making.
The kind of evening you wish you could bottle up and keep forever.
